Racists convicted in Volgograd
On April 5, 2010, the Voroshilovsky District Court of Volgograd passed a guilty verdict under paragraph "b" part 2 of Art. 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (beating motivated by national hatred) against Roman Demidenko and Mikhail Fedorenko.
In August 2009, the defendants beat up two men they did not know before.
The court sentenced R. Demidenko to 3 years and 1 month in prison, taking into account the already existing suspended sentence, to be served in a general regime correctional colony. M. Fedorenko was sentenced to 1 year and 1 month in prison in a penal colony.
The verdict did not enter into force, the convicts were taken into custody in the courtroom.
