After the message and photo appeared in the press, the memorial sign was put in order by the activists of the Chita forum "Drom.ru".

On April 5, 2010, during a press conference, the mayor of Chita, Anatoly Mikhalev, answering journalists' questions about the sign, said that " if this is boyish hooliganism, then this is one side. And if this is a conscious, purposeful thing, I can’t even call it blasphemy, this is vandalism. Although it may be hooliganism - I was not afraid to draw a swastika " .
