On April 13, 2010 in Sochi, the Youth Policy Department of the city administration and representatives of "traditional" religions for the region signed an agreement on cooperation in "protecting young people from the harmful influence of new religious associations." The document was signed by the deans of the Lazarevsky, Central, Khostinsky and Adlersky districts of the city of Sochi, the chief imam for Sochi and Tuapse and the rector of the Armenian Apostolic Church of the diocese of southern Russia.
The administration's press service reported that "this agreement <...> is concluded in order to combine efforts to create the necessary conditions for the spiritual and moral development of the city's youth, to ensure social and legal protection from the destructive impact of new religious movements and cults."
