The Ulyanovsk governor proposes to legislate the concepts of “sect” and “destructive cult”

The governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Sergei Morozov, speaking on April 28 at a scientific-practical conference, announced the need to legislate the concepts of "sect", "destructive cult" and "missionary work". To do this, he proposes to amend several federal laws.

The adoption of such amendments, according to the governor, will limit the activities of "totalitarian" religious associations and help strengthen control over their compliance with the law.

S. Morozov considers it important to create a unified federal concept of state-confessional relations, which would outline "the main principles and directions of interaction between state authorities and traditional confessions, indicate the interests and position of the state."
