Right-wing radical detained in St. Petersburg

In early May 2010, a former member of the Russian National Unity (RNE), the leader of one of the St. Petersburg nationalist organizations, 36-year-old Vladislav Gavrichenkov, was detained in St. Petersburg. He was charged with part 4 of article 33, part 2 of article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement to hooliganism).

A neo-Nazi was arrested in connection with the bombings in December 2009 and January 2010 in the Kirovsky district of St. Petersburg. Earlier, were detained Igor Gritskevich and Vladimir Smirnov in this case. Gavrichenkov acted as an instigator who persuaded Gritskevich and Smirnov to blow up devices on Krasnoarmeyskaya and Tankist Khrustitsky streets.

During the search, literature, badges, emblems and video materials of an "extremist nature" were confiscated from the accused.

With regard to the neo-Nazi, a measure of restraint was chosen in the form of detention.

Gavrichenkov was the leader of the St. Petersburg branch of the "Slavic Union". According to right-wing radicals, he also headed one of the "militant groups" that broke away from the RNU, which included Gritskevich.
