On May 8, 2010, officers of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Penza Region detained Ilya Petrov (“Schizophrenic”), born in 1992, who was suspected of committing a series of explosions .
A young man was detained while trying to organize an explosion at a police station on Zhemchuzhnaya Street in Penza. Police officers established his involvement in a number of similar crimes. According to investigators, a young man carried out an explosion near the building of the Express TV and radio company in March 2010, as a result of which one person was injured, tried to set fire to police department No. 4 in Penza, and also planted an explosive device weighing 3-3.5 kg in TNT equivalent near the building of police department No. 2 on Lenin Street on May 6, 2010. In total, according to investigative data, I. Petrov committed at least eight arson and explosions in Penza in six months - police departments, Orthodox chapels and the local TV channel.
The young man is in a temporary detention center.
The investigation of crimes is carried out by the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Penza region together with the regional department of the FSB.
It is reported that earlier I. Petrov was an anti-fascist punk, and then changed his views.
