On May 13, 2010, 43-year-old native of the Penza region Khamzya Enikeev was detained in St. Petersburg, suspected of murdering black artist Tito Romaglio on May 10.
The detainee, who worked as a store security guard in the house near which the actor was found, is a participant in the first Chechen campaign. According to investigators, the man severely beat Romaglio motivated by racial hatred, and then fled the scene.
A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against the suspect. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death).
