On May 10, 2010, in St. Petersburg, a 58-year-old black artist and teacher at one of the city’s lyceums, Tito Romaglio, was attacked.
The artist was found unconscious by local residents near one of the houses on Bogatyrsky Prospekt (metro station Pionerskaya) and called intensive care, but the actor did not regain consciousness.
On May 11, 2010, Romaglio died in hospital from a closed head injury.
According to media reports, dark skin color has “more than once brought problems” to the actor.
Romaglio starred in many Soviet films in supporting roles.
The murder suspect was detained on May 13, 2010. According to investigators, the man beat the black actor motivated by racial hatred.
