Sergey Melentyev is a graduate of the Omsk Higher Combined Arms Command of the Twice Red Banner School named after MV Frunze (1983).
The editors of the “Pskov province” sent a request to the president in 2003, in response received an unsubscription from the Security Council: all the heroes, the investigation continues, are looking for militants, there are no crime compositions in the actions of the grouping of Russian troops. And-not a word about Sergey Melentiev , the commander of the 104th regiment. By that time - already deceased.
In 2010, all these memoirs, re-read out again bleeding discussions (only a little of a large format), new meetings with parents and widows , the reaction of relatives and veterans of the regiment to an article, which is empty from the point of view of the main issues, the meeting of the commanding of the Airborne Forces of Vladimir Shamanov with the relatives of the victims of the 76th division, led the author to the idea that the official request should be repeated.
Just because - it is necessary. Formally in the country is another president, another general prosecutor.
There are things that need to be reminded until they become clear.
In the situation of the silence of the tragedy that is leaving in the history of the tragedy, we came to the conclusion that the request should be political in nature.
On March 2, the chairman of the Russian United United Democratic Party “Yabloko” Sergey Mitrokhin sent a letter to the President of the Russian Federation and the Supreme Commander -in -Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika .
The letter announced the need to resume a criminal case on the fact of the death of military personnel of the 6th company and conducting a full and comprehensive investigation within its framework.
The appeal, in particular, said: “The death of a whole military unit, which took a battle for two days, was just a few kilometers from other military units of the United Group of Troops in the North Caucasus, to date, continues to be a non -healing wound for relatives, friends and close dead soldiers and officers, for the whole country.
The relatives of the dead and all Russian society have not yet received answers about the causes and circumstances of the tragic battle with especially grave consequences.
This investigation is necessary for Russian armed forces, to the whole Russian society, it should give answers, which are still not there.
Such an investigation is the moral debt of the state before the memory of the dead soldiers. It should find out the measure of liability of all officials of the command staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation who made decisions and involved in decision -making in the North Caucasus, led to tragic events on February 29 - March 1, 2000
Without such an investigation, the memory of the dead heroes will not be complete. ”
In early May, we received an official response (which is indicative - from the main military prosecutor’s office, not from the addressees of the letter), which is difficult, but necessary to comment.
For the first time, it was said at the official level that the only person who was found guilty of the deaths of 84 Russian troops was the former commander of the 104th regiment, Colonel Sergei Melentyev, later transferred from Pskov to Ulyanovsk and died in June 2002. It turned out that the fault was established precisely and only Melentyev, who categorically objected to a throw to a height of 776.0, six times (according to the testimony of people who knew him) asked permission to take the company immediately after the start of the battle, but in the first case, he obeyed the order, and in the second - did not receive permission.
The time to tell the truth about the death of the 6th company at the state level in Russia has not yet come. This is the main meaning of the answer that we received.
So, in essence, nothing has changed in our country.
But in the process of the next attempt to achieve the truth, the details were revealed that we must talk about.
The official response was executed on the form of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation and signed on April 16 as an assistant to the chief military prosecutor of Russia S. V. Bokov .
The article “From a Height”, published in the “Pskov province” on February 24, 2010, caused many responses.
The answer on the merits of the appeal was given the following (we give its text almost completely, except for introduction):
“In the period E on February 29 to March 1, 2000, when performing the task of blocking participants in illegal armed groups in the area of N. the village of Ulus-Kle of the Chechen Republic as a result of a combat collision at the height of Ot. 776.0 84 died and 6 troops were injured.
On March 2, 2000, in the military prosecutor’s office - military unit 20102 (n. Khankala) against participants in illegal armed groups, criminal case No. 14/33/0108-00 was instituted on the grounds of crimes under P.P. “B”, “g”, “h” of Part 2 of Art. 105 (murder), part 2 of Art. 208 (participation in the armed formation) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which was sent on April 29, 2000 to investigation to the Main Directorate of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation on the supervision of the implementation of laws in the North Caucasus (now the Office of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation in the Southern Federal District).
Currently, this criminal case is investigated in the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee under the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation in the Chechen Republic and did not make the final procedural decision on it.
On May 2, 2000, in the military prosecutor’s office - military unit 20102, a criminal case No. 14/33/0185-00 on the grounds of the crime under Part 2 of Article was instituted to be the commander of the regiment of the regiment of the regiment of the regiment of the regiment of the regiment. 293 (negligence that entailed by negligence of grave consequences) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
During the preliminary investigation in the case, it was found that due to the improper performance of his duties, Colonel Melentyev S. Yu. Mounted violations of the requirements of the combat charter of the ground forces, expressed in the ineffective conduct of intelligence to establish the location of the participants in illegal armed groups in the areas of actions of subordinate units, making incorrect decisions on the change in the height of the lesson 776.0, determining the firing positions of the artillery division and the deployment of the reserves of the regiment.
The above violations led to a fight of the battle with significantly superior enemy forces in engineering positions in the conditions of circular defense, the inefficiency of the use of artillery means of defeat from the established fire positions in the absence of adverse weather conditions of aviation support and the impossibility of operational release of the regimental reserve forces, which entailed grave consequences of the serious consequences. The form of unreasonably high losses of personnel. The preliminary investigation authorities of the actions of Colonel Melentyev S. Yu. Visually qualified under Part 2 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code.
At the same time, the act of amnesty was subject to application in relation to the specified soldier-the Decree of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation dated 05.05.00 No. 398-III State Duma “On the announcement of an amnesty in connection with the 55th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45” .
Given the foregoing, on May 30, 2000, the criminal case with the consent of Melentyev S. Yu. Was justified by the foundation of paragraph 4 of Part 1 of Art. 5 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the RSFSR due to the act of amnesty.
This procedural decision was made by the assistant to the military prosecutor - military unit 20102 and is not rehabilitating for persons who have committed a criminal act.
The adoption of another decision, taking into account the established factual circumstances of the case, would contradict the requirements of the legislation on criminal proceedings.
During the investigation, a legal assessment of the actions of other military officials, including The command of the United Group, in respect of which the criminal case is denied on the basis of paragraph 2 of Part 1 of Art. 5 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the RSFSR - for the lack of corpus delicti.
Currently, there are no grounds for reviewing the above procedural solutions. ”
Thus, translating the official procedural language of the response to a more intelligible, main military prosecutor's office of Russia, reported that:
1) the criminal case, initiated by the death of the paratroopers, has not been completed and is investigated in the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee under the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation in the Chechen Republic, there is still no procedural decision in the case;
2) at the same time, the actions of the combined group of troops in the North Caucasus by the investigation were given, the investigation was given, the criminal proceedings were denied “for the lack of corpus delicti”;
3) For the first time, it was announced publicly that the only person whose guilt was established is the former commander of the 104th regiment Colonel Sergei Melentiev, who was found guilty and amnestied in 2000
But in the response of GVP it is in no way mentioned that in June 2002 Sergey Melentyev died.
In the article “From Heights”, we mentioned, with reference to the famous memoirs of Colonel Sergei Baran *published in March 2008 in the Almanac “The Art of War”, in 2000, in the rank of Major, who commanded the 1st company of the 1st battalion of the 104th parachute regiment, that S. Yu. Melentiev died on June 22, 2002. This date from the memoirs of S. Baran migrated to hundreds of publications.

Tamara Georgievna Melentieva lost first her husband, and then her son. Photo: "Chelyabinsk worker"
It was said this: “I well remember: when Melentiev was set the task for transferring 6 companies to the left bank of the Abazulgol River, he tried for a long time to explain that the shelf was beyond the power, that all the strongholds, blocks remain on the right bank, all the units are involved, and in case of a critical situation, he will not have a reserve for the timely assistance. Melentyev then said: “You can’t stand on different banks of the river with two legs,” but they did not listen to his opinion then.
Sergey Yuryevich Melentyev died of a heart attack on June 22, 2002. We buried him in the village of Cromna of the Oryol region. At the funeral there were all his colleagues in the Pskov division, officers of the Airborne Forces command, command 31 OTDBR, many famous people. Melentyev was a highly qualified military, competent and deeply decent person, and he was heavily experienced by the death of the 6th company.
All accusations of illiteracy and inaction against Melentyev, who come from some “knowledgeable” gentlemen, I consider populist, stupid and absolutely groundless! ”
Sergei Baran, by virtue of his position and experience (at the time of the interview, he commanded the 108th parachute regiment of the 7th Airborne Scientific Division in the rank of colonel) could not not know about the results of the investigation in the Main Military Prosecutor's Office. But in direct text he did not mention him with a word.
In the memoirs themselves, which are one of the most cited sources about the death of the 6th company, they show the remorse that are not particularly hidden by the author: they could not save his comrades. But the system of presentation is such that the responsibility is also entrusted to the dead: first of all, Major Mark Evtyukhin , commander of the 6th company, and all the same, by that time of the deceased, Sergey Melentyev.
Recall that, according to the memoirs of S. I. Baran, the decisive episodes of communication inside the 104th regiment, after the 6th company was actually blocked at an altitude of 776.0, look as follows: “... Having reached the Abazulgol River, we immediately crossed it. The river was cold, dirty, but shallow, to the waist.
Starting the climb up the slope towards the height of 776.0, at the reconnaissance frequency I got in touch with Vorobyov, clarified the current atmosphere. To coordinate future joint actions, I asked Alexei to connect me with Evtyukhin. He connected. I asked Mark Nikolaevich: “How and where to come from? What to do? ”
Evtyukhin thought, and then answered:
- Seryoga, you don’t get here, you will only interfere with me, I will figure it out. Everything is under control, we cope ourselves. Now you can neither come here or help. Do not climb. If I need help, I will call you myself.
These are his words, Mark. Evtyukhin spoke to me with a normal, sane voice, did not panic, was assembled and decisive.
There was no more than 40 minutes to go to 6 companies. The clock was 23.45.
Night frosts chose our movements. The fighters sweated and wet after crossing and crossing began to freeze. I reported to Melentiev the situation, handed over the words of Yevtyukhin, asked for instructions. Melentyev ordered to move back to the Mount of Dembayirza to the KNP 1 battalion and rest there until dawn. We moved away. "
There was no one to help the next morning.
In the famous article of the now deceased journalist, Izvestia, Edwin Polyanovsky “Suvorik” about Sergey Melentiev, literally the following is said: “There were a lot of criminal oddities. Of the 90 paratroopers, the company died 84.
The switchman was punished: the regiment commander Sergei Melentyev was transferred to Ulyanovsk by the chief of staff of the brigade ( he soon died. - Auth. ) . The commander of the eastern group, General Makarov, also remained on the side (six times asked him Melentyev to give the company the opportunity to move away, not to destroy the guys), and another general - Lentsov, who headed the operational group of the Airborne Forces. "
In the process of searching for information about the fate of Sergei Melentyev, after transferring from Pskov and before the death, we went to the search website and meetings of graduates of the now -non -existing Omsk Higher Command Command of the twice Red Banner School named after M.V. Frunze. And there, on a more than modest named page, the following record was discovered: “Melentyev Sergey Yuryevich, 1979-1983. (4 battalion 11 company 2 platoon). He died on June 13, 2002. "

S. Yu. Melentyev comments on the death of the 6th company. March 5, 2000, Chechnya. Video camera.
Died? June 13? Not on the 22nd?
There, on the site, a few comments:
“Colonel of the Airborne Forces, a participant in the Chechen company. On June 13, under the circumstances that was not fully clarified, he passed away. He was a wonderful person and officer from God. He did everything in his power to prevent the death of the 6th company of the Pskov paratroopers. / Egorov Sergey/ 05/19/2007 ".
“Melentyev, my company (sorry, the man was correct, everyone respected!”
“I am sending a photo of Sergei Melentyev for placing on the site (1983 release, 4 battalion, 11 company). Sincerely, Yu. Aksenenko (10 company, 4 battalion, 1983) .
How few photos are left. This, either from the graduation album, or from the certificate of the officer, is one of the few.
Further searches led us to the sites of two regional publications: the newspapers Simbirsk Courier and the newspaper Chelyabinsk Worker.
The Simbirsk Courier in Number 12-13 January 25 dated 2003 in the preface "What are they dying for?" To reprint one of the articles by Edwin Polyanovsky: “In 2000, the 31st Airborne Brigade from the Caucasus was transferred to the post of chief of staff Sergey Melentyev in the Ulyanovsk 31st Brigade of the Airborne Forces. In the war, he commanded the Pskov Parachute-Passenger Regiment, whose company almost completely died in early March in a clash with a two thousandth gang of Hattaba. Melentyev turned out to be a switchman, although in the death of his subordinates he was the least to blame. In Ulyanovsk, the officer died soon. ”
But the most significant information was found in the “Chelyabinsk worker”, where on August 21, 2007, an article by Marina Klein was published under the secondary (it must be mentioned that one of the publications of Edwin Polyanovsky, dedicated to the 6th company, was named, and in general M. Klein had many references to E. Polyanovsky) heading “Your Son” with the subtitle of Trinity No. 10 on the initiative No. 10 on the initiative. Classmates will be given the name of Colonel of the Russian Army Sergey Melentyev. ”
God with him, with the heading. The publication is based on a conversation with the mother of Sergey, Tamara Georgievna Melentyeva . From the article it was possible to learn a lot about the last milestones of the fate of Sergey Melentyev.
We can not do without significant quotes.
The fate of the Melentyev family at the beginning of the XXI century was generally the same as a tragic:
“The trouble came to the Melentyev’s house unexpectedly. The husband of Tamara Georgievna was sick for a very long time, and here it was completely ill. Doctors made a disappointing diagnosis: diabetes mellitus, amputated his leg: he faded away in front of his eyes, but Tamara Georgievna did everything out of her last forces to alleviate her husband's suffering. She was with him every minute, and then it was also necessary to take care of the mother -in -law. So the son and mother lay in the same room. And Tamara is to one, then to the other. This cannot be described in words how much she experienced and where only the forces came from.
But, as you know, trouble does not come alone. The disease riveted to the bed and an elderly mother. Tamara took her mother to her. And again the medicine by the clock, sleepless nights.
Forbidden.
God knows.
Но хотелось бы разочаровать их еще в этой жизни.
