Savva Vasilievich Yamshchikov died on July 19, 2009 in Pskov. On August 27, at his magpies in Trigorsky, the idea came that if you collect a few articles that were published in the “Pskov province” under one cover of Savvina, as well as numerous publications with its mention, you will get a good book. Several times, people who read the newspaper, but did not yet know about the idea of ​​the book, asked us: “Do you want to publish a book about Yamshchikov with their publications?”

We wanted. They wrote a letter to the Minister of Culture of Russia Alexander Avdeev. The book turned out, and on May 25, 2010 at 15.30 it will be represented by the general public in the Hall of Western European art of the Pskov State Museum-Reserve, many paintings from which Savva Yamshchikov and the governor of the Holy Pskov-Pechersky monastery Archimandrite Alipius (Ivan Voronov) were saved for us. Valentina Ganibalova (will come from St. Petersburg) and his daughter Martha Yamshchikov (will come from Moscow), friends and colleagues of Savva Yamshchikov, representatives of spiritual and secular authorities, were invited to the presentation of the publication.

In the book "Pskov province. Savva Yamshchikov ”five sections:“ The Word of the Savva ”,“ Pskov Nabat ”,“ Fight at the Intercession ”,“ Theology in Colors ”,“ In Memoriam ”. Almost 400 names, about 100 monuments of history and culture are mentioned on its 432 pages [ 1 ]. Maxim Andreev, Svetlana Prokopyeva, Elena Shiryaeva, chairman of the Pskov Regional Department of the All -Russian History and Culture Monuments Irina Gorebeva, art critic Yuli -Seliverstov and the Chief Editor of the Pskov province, took part in the preparation of the publication. He is the author of the preface, which the editors offers on the eve of the presentation to the attention of readers.

Communication of the “Pskov province” with Savoy Vasilyevich Yamshchikov began in 2003 and continued until its very last hours. He arrived (seemed to fly) in Pskov and Trigorskoye on a matter of days - suddenly, like a meteorite, shaking space and leaving behind a flickering tail of energetic conversations.

The gathered together, this mosaic reveals to some extent a picture of the spiritual and physical struggle of Savva Vasilievich Yamshchikov for Russia, for Pskov, for culture, for his friends, for himself.

It was Titan's struggle. As a true warrior, he fought not because he loved to fight, but because he could not help but fight.

Death found him on the battlefield and dragged him from there with an epic sword in her hands.

Its sudden death forced us to re-read and put together dozens of publications of 2003-2009, which eventually made this memorable book in every sense.

It turned out to be extremely sad.

Sadly, because this is, first of all, a book of unceasing struggle, which has not ended in victory. Sadly, because when you read the history of defeats in the struggle for culture, you again see how in reality, in detail, as if in a rapid survey, all the nodal points, all the forces of the time, in each of which the hopes did not justify, did not come or hopelessly, the barbarians ended up triumphed and prevailed.

The Pokrovskaya tower is scolded by the aggressive multi -storey building, the iconostasis of the work of Archimandrite Zinon is mutilated in the Serafimovsky chapel of the Trinity Cathedral, the community of the Mirozhsky Monastery founded by Zinon, the church of the Epiphany from the Zapskovya was insulted by the soulless novelty.

Amazing - the severity of the picture of a humiliated and destroyed culture did not weaken the power of Savva Yamshchikov. In each of his public words until the very last day, hope sounded, Vera was awarded to the best outcome, to a spiritual fracture, to a cultural breakthrough.

He did not change this tone for an hour or a phrase.

It was this conscious, irrevocable, like the nearest meteorite, the integrity of the ascetic nature and free thought of Savva Vasilievich Yamshchikov overcame the poisonous atmosphere of aggressive barbarism and remained inherited to the city and the world.

God pleased that part of these thoughts and words would see the light on the pages of the "Pskov province." Gathered under one cover, wrapped in Savvin, a Scottish shirt, they will be a kind of oxygen pillow for everyone who has dear the world of culture. And this incompressible more oxygen will find its way out, its hour and its appearance for the salvation and revival of Pskov.
