On May 24, 2010, the Novosibirsk Garrison Military Court delivered a guilty verdict in the case against Major Nikolai Levoy, who beat a soldier from Dagestan in November 2009.
The court found N. Levy guilty under Part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of power, with the use of violence, causing grave consequences) and imposed a suspended sentence of 3 years in prison, while simultaneously depriving the accused of the right to hold leadership positions for 2 years. The major was also left under house arrest.
