Warning to the Express Mail newspaper

At the end of May 2010, it became known that Roskomnadzor had issued a warning about the inadmissibility of extremist activities of the editorial office of the newspaper "Express-mail" for the publication of an article by Dalkhat Kasaev "The star of David does not shine for Okhtov and Nartokov" in No. 39 (700) dated September 23, 2009 .

Its text is a polemic with an article published in Moskovsky Komsomolets entitled "To Whom the Star of David Does Not Shine" , which tells how during the war Jewish children from besieged Leningrad were adopted in one of the villages of Karachay-Cherkessia. Later, this article was reprinted with some changes in the "Bulletin of Karachay-Cherkessia".

Kasaev lists his claims to the text of "Moskovsky Komsomolets" and "Bulletin of Karachay-Cherkessia" (in his opinion, there are many factual inaccuracies), and also opposes the idea of ​​erecting a monument in memory of the villagers who sheltered children. He expresses the opinion that this is immodest and similar to paganism.

In our opinion, regardless of whose point of view and version of events is correct, there are no signs of extremist activity in Kasaev's article. He reproaches his opponents for being biased towards the Karachais and for being too complimentary towards the Circassians, and even looks for signs of inciting hatred in this text. However, extremism, according to the law, is only a deliberate accusation (moreover, false) of extremist acts of representatives of the authorities. Here, the accusations are not directed against officials, but whether they are false accusations or not, they are clearly not intentional slander.
