On May 26, 2010, the Neftekamsk city court satisfied the suit of the prosecutor's office to recognize as extremist material an advertisement for the EXTRA store, one of the elements of which is two yellow and blue lightning bolts. The prosecutor's office saw in this similarity "to the point of confusion" with the Nazi symbol of the SS.
As Sergey Skribo, General Director of EXTRA LLC, stated, “Such a badge is actively used in youth culture, it could not have occurred to us that it could be mistaken for an element of Nazism. (...) We will not fight for multi-colored badges. Although this is all strange, you can just as well ban the sale of Mercedes and BMWs in Russia, or, for example, the image of a skull, which is also now widely used in youth culture, and used to be an element of a fascist uniform .
In our opinion, it is difficult to see Nazi propaganda in two multi-colored lightning bolts, which are only part of a more complex image. Moreover, if it is there, it would be more logical not to recognize advertising as extremist materials, but to use some other leverage (administrative pressure, warnings).
