Will the newspaper "To the Barrier" be closed?

On June 16, 2010, the Ostankinsky District Court of Moscow issued a decision to close the newspaper "To Barrier", in accordance with anti-extremist legislation. The publication was the successor to the Duel newspaper, which was also closed after years of litigation.

The legal proceedings were initiated in 2009 by Roskomnadzor. The lawsuit was based on two warnings from the department, which the newspaper received in the summer of 2009 for publishing the material "You have chosen - you will be the judge!" in No. 2 of June 2, 2009 (item 463 of the Federal List of Extremist Materials ) and in November 2009 for the publication of the article "Did Medvedev turn to liberals?" in No. 20 of 6 October.

According to the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Yuri Mukhin, both warnings were challenged in court in the Tagansky District Court of Moscow, but unsuccessfully.

The judgment has not yet entered into force. The editors intend to appeal against it in the Moscow City Court.
