On June 30, 2010, the round table "Execution of decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in cases on the protection of freedom of conscience" was held at the Slavic Legal Center. Its participants were lawyers Anatoly Pchelintsev, Vladimir Ryakhovsky, Roman Maranov, Galina Krylova, Sergey Sychev, Lev Simkin, professor at the Russian State Pedagogical University. A.I. Herzen Nikolay Gordienko, President of the Russian Association of Researchers of Religion Mikhail Odintsov, lawyer Aidar Sultanov, specialist in the field of state-church relations Andrey Sebentsov, director of the Institute of Religion and Law Roman Lunkin.
The speakers noted the desire of officials to ignore the decisions of the ECtHR, the lack of mechanisms for the implementation of these decisions in Russian legislation, negative public opinion in relation to international law, disrespect for the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
As a reminder, on June 10, 2010, the ECtHR declared illegal the decision of the Russian court to liquidate the community of Jehovah's Witnesses in Moscow.
