Jehovah's Witnesses detained at a traffic police post in the Stavropol Territory

On July 9, 2010, at the police checkpoint between Armavir and Nevinnomyssk, Jehovah's Witnesses were detained on their way to the annual religious congress. A police officer entered one of the three minibuses and asked for Watchtower magazines. The believers did not have magazines. The minibus was allowed to continue its journey.

However, later the first minibus was returned to the post again. Passports and religious literature were confiscated from all passengers. Believers report that in response to a question about the reason for the detention, the officer told them that he was acting in accordance with the order, and that he needed to report that "not a single item from the list" was found on them.

Subsequently, the Jehovah's Witnesses were released.
