On August 19, 2010, the website of the St. Petersburg prosecutor's office reported the results of a review of legislation on countering extremist activities in connection with information about the opening of a Sharia court in St. Petersburg.
The audit found that the Islamic Human Rights Center and the court under the religious organization Al-Fatah were created without any documentation. The head of the organization, Jamaliddin Makhmutov, explained that the decisions made by the court are not binding, and his words about the Sharia court were misinterpreted by journalists.
Based on the results of the inspection, the prosecutor's office of the Admiralteysky district of St. Petersburg issued a warning to D. Makhmutov about the inadmissibility of violating the law. Sources
