In Moscow, a court allowed a blood transfusion to a child against the will of the mother, who prohibited the operation for religious reasons.

On August 20, 2010, it became known that the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow allowed perform a blood transfusion on a 10-year-old child, contrary to the prohibition of his mother, who is member of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Previously, the administration of the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology appealed to the Zamoskvoretsky Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office with a request to allow blood transfusion to a boy who was admitted to the intensive care unit of the research institute with a bruise brain severe, fracture of the cranial vault, closed injury chest, pulmonary contusion and other injuries. Mother for religious reasons agreed to the operation, despite the threat to her son's life.
