Issues of the newspaper "Oran" are recognized as extremist in Bashkiria

September 20 2010, the Kirovsky District Court of Ufa recognized two issues of the newspaper "Oran" ("Cry") - No. 7 and No. 8 March 2010 with extremist materials.

An application for the recognition of two issues of the newspaper as extremist was sent to the court Prosecutor of the Republic of Bashkortostan in May 2010.

According to the results examination, the materials of the newspaper contain "statements that form an opinion about exclusivity, the superiority of a person on the grounds of nationality, and articles "incite enmity between persons of the titular nation and other nationalities."

As follows from the court decision, the prosecutor's claims (with which the court agreed) caused a collection of anti-Bashkir statements collected by the editors from various forums and published under the heading "Here's what they write about the Bashkirs on these sites." These collections were accompanied by a visually highlighted requirement of the editors to law enforcement agencies to find the authors of the comments and punish them "to the fullest extent of the law," which the editor pointed out in court.

However, the court did not consider this sufficient grounds for rejecting the claim and recognized both issues of the newspaper as extremist.

The court's decision has not yet entered into force, although the representatives of the founder stated that they leave the decision of the issue to the discretion of the court and will not object to any decision.

The newspaper itself was considered the print organ of the Bashkir radical nationalist organization Union of Bashkir Youth (SBM), whose activities have repeatedly attracted the attention of law enforcement officials.

However, during the same court session, it turned out that de facto the newspaper was founded not by the SBM, but by a certain publishing house, whose name, unfortunately, was excluded from the court decision, that the registration certificate was lost (lost), and in April 2010 it was A decision was made to stop publishing the newspaper.

The court also decided to confiscate the remainder of the circulation of these copies.
