The leader of the Shambhala Ashram was arrested in Novosibirsk

On October 5, 2010, it became known about the arrest in Novosibirsk of the leader of the Shambhala Ashram religious organization, Konstantin Rudnev. He was charged under Part 1 of Article 239 (creation of a religious association), Article 131 (rape) and Article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violent acts of a sexual nature).

Let us recall that in 2008, special forces stormed a cottage near Novosibirsk, where the organization’s headquarters was located. K. Rudnev was then detained , but no criminal case was initiated. Before this, criminal cases against the leader of the Shambhala Ashram were initiated twice, but were not brought to trial.

On December 30, 2010, it became known that the organization’s property was seized by court decision.

On January 18, 2011, the Central District Court of Novosibirsk granted the investigation's request to extend K. Rudnev's detention by 2 months. The investigation period in the case has also been extended by 2 months.
