Parents of Nizhny Novgorod school students are outraged by the seizure of part of the building by an Orthodox gymnasium

In October 2010, it became known about the conflict at school N 113 in Nizhny Novgorod, part of the building which was occupied by an Orthodox gymnasium.

The gymnasium, with the permission of the city administration, moved to school premises in August 2010 without agreement with the school staff and parents of students. Vitaly Grudanov, spokesman for the Nizhny Novgorod diocese, says that the gymnasium occupied empty buildings and assumed all the expenses for their content.

However, an open letter was circulated in September parents of students of school N 113, outraged by the seizure of the premises, where they made repairs the day before for their own check. According to the newspaper "Polyarnaya Zvezda", the gymnasium de facto occupied 4 classrooms on two floors of the building, and also enjoys the school's sports hall. For the sake of to give the gymnasium the opportunity to accommodate, the school class was disbanded out of 12 people. It also turned out that in reality the gymnasium does not pay school for rent, does not pay its part for the maintenance of security, limited to only pay their share of utilities.

Parents are sure that the school now has a reputation as Orthodox, therefore, those parents who do not want their children to receive Orthodox education, will not send them to school. As a result, the school may lose financing, because The amount of allocated funds depends on the number of students.
