The authors of the appeal accuse the city's Catholic community of intending to conduct active missionary work in the region.

The authors of the document see in the protests of the Catholic community about the transfer of the former church to the Russian Orthodox Church "disrespect for the decision of the local authorities" and "clear an attempt to question the significance of Orthodoxy for modern Russia. Among other things, they believe that the claims about the building of the Philharmonic are unfounded. “There is no legal basis for such a position. Nobody took it away the building, as well as other places of worship in the region, belong to the previous owners,” says in the statement.

“Such questions should not be resolved in the genre of open letters, and as a result of working at the negotiating table in a spirit of goodwill believers of different faiths to each other, for which the authors of the letter so advocate His Holiness the Patriarch,” representatives of the Orthodox community emphasize.
