LGBT protesters beaten in Tomsk

On October 30, 2010 in Tomsk an attack was made on the participants of the action, conducted by the local branch of the Interregional Public Movement "Russian LGBT Network" handing out anti-homophobic leaflets.

Five participants, including one girl, were attacked by about 10 unknown persons. in masks. They threw the young people to the ground and kicked them.

Three people were taken to the hospital where they were diagnosed concussion. One of them was also diagnosed with multiple damage to the soft tissues of the head.

The attack took place in the immediate vicinity of the police post. Guards in did not intervene in the fight, however, at the request of one of the victims, an ambulance was called help.

Two beaten activists filed statements with the police.

On November 9, 2010, a criminal case was initiated under paragraph "a" part 2 of Art. 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (beating out of hooligan motives). The victims insist on the addition to the qualification of the crime p. "b" h. 2 Article. 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (drawing hate-motivated beatings). Activists believe that the only reason for attacks became the essence of their action - the distribution of leaflets in order to draw people's attention to the issue of homophobia in Russia.
