Fine for distributing extremist materials on the Internet

January 18, 2011 Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory reported that the Magistrate's Court of the city of Zelenogorsk Krasnoyarsk Territory fined the user of the local network Internet provider Portlink LLC Sergey Shumansky, who distributed under pseudonymous xenophobic texts and video files. In particular, the user posted on the network the text of the book by V. Istarkhov “Blow Russian Gods”, included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials (p. 292).

The administrative case offense was initiated under Article 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (mass distribution extremist materials included in the published list of extremist materials as well as their production or storage for mass distribution).

The breach was discovered during a joint anti-extremist inspection of the prosecutor's office ZATO of the city of Zelenogorsk and the Federal Security Service of Russia across Zelenogorsk.
