Statistics on “crimes of an extremist nature” have been announced in the Republic of Tatarstan

In January 2011, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan, Asgat Safarov, announced regional statistics on crimes of an extremist nature in 2010 (see the certificate of the SOVA Center " Crimes of an extremist nature "). The official said that his department had identified “23 similar crimes in 12 criminal cases. 14 cases were sent to court for consideration.”

In addition, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the number of “adherents of extremist movements” has doubled in the region over the year.

According to the SOVA Center, the following criminal cases were initiated in the republic in 2010:

In January 2010, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism motivated by national hatred), Part 2 of Art. 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (assault motivated by national hatred) and Part 2 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing minor harm to health motivated by national hatred) against three Nazi skinheads who attacked anti-fascists. The case went to trial.

In February 2010 , a criminal case was opened under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism committed on the basis of national hatred) and Clause "b" Part 2 of Article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (beatings inflicted on the basis of national hatred) against three Nazi skinheads who beat two natives of Tajikistan. The case went to trial.

In September 2010, a criminal case was initiated under Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in the activities of a banned organization) against seven people suspected of collaboration with Hizb ut-Tahrir. Let us remind you that we consider cases against members of this organization to be unlawful. The case went to trial.

In October 2010, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of national hatred) against four young people who were accused of distributing anti-Semitic and anti-state leaflets .

In December 2010,criminal cases were initiated under Art. 282.2 (participation in the activities of a banned organization) against two members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, whom investigators mistook for members of the NBP. Let us remind you that we consider the initiation of this case to be unlawful.
