The Plenum of the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church approved a number of documents concerning the relationship of the Church with the state and society

On January 28-29, 2011, a plenum was held in Moscow Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church. During the meetings there were several draft documents were approved, including those relating to relations with society and state:

• "Public activity of Orthodox Christians" ;

• "The practice of statements and actions of hierarchs, clergy and laity during election campaigns. The problem of nomination by the clergy of their candidates for elections" ;

• “The attitude of the Russian Orthodox Church towards the intentional public blasphemy and slander against the Church” ;

• "On the principles of organizing social work in the Russian Orthodox Church" .

It was decided to submit the drafts of these documents to the Holy Synod on January 31 for further consideration at the Council of Bishops, scheduled for February 2-4, 2011.
