In the Kurgan and Vologda regions, police officers were held accountable for bringing members of the Jehovah's Witnesses community to the police station.

On January 12, 2011 it became known that the Commissioner on human rights in the Russian Federation filed a complaint against the actions of officials of the Department of Internal Affairs of Kharovsk Vologda region.

In the text of the complaint, it was indicated that the police officers detained members of the Witnesses Jehovah”, they were forcibly fingerprinted and photographed.

The Commissioner for Human Rights appealed to the prosecutor's office of the Kharovsky district with a request to organize a background check, set out in the appeal.

The audit showed that no illegal actions, members of the Jehovah's Witnesses community who have been prosecuted do not committed, and that the violations were committed by the police.

In pursuance of the presentation directed prosecutor's office to the head of the police department for the Kharovsky district, one of the police officers received a reprimand, the other received a stern warning.

A similar result was achieved by Jehovah's Witnesses in the Kurgan region.

Recall that in September 2010, the police department of the village of Safakulev, Safakulev district, Kurgan region, called F. Nozdrina, who said that “ to her already not for the first time two women came, members of some religious organization, the legality of which she doubts " and " asked militia officers protect her from these women .”

According to the testimony of members of the Jehovah's Witnesses community, employees militia illegally brought them to the police station, took photographs, recorded their personal data, made a personal search without the participation of attesting witnesses, seized literature.

On November 22, November 29 and December 2, 2010, women filed a statement about the violation of their constitutional rights to the Shchuchansky interdistrict investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kurgan Region.

On December 2, 2010, they were denied a criminal cases under Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official powers).

On December 21, 2010, in response to statements from members of the Witnesses Jehovah”, submitted to the Internal Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Public Chamber and the Council for Assistance development of civil society institutions and human rights, head of the Internal Affairs Directorate for Kurgan region B. Timonichenko confirmed that “ the actions of police officers related to bringing [members of the Jehovah's Witnesses community] to the police department Safakulevsky district and the photographs taken against [them] were recognized as unreasonable”, “for violations of official discipline, district police officers police officers M. Ivin and D. Abdrakhmanov subject to disciplinary action."

It should be noted that the persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses by employees police in 2010 were not uncommon. In particular, in March 2010 it was noted 67 such cases, in April 2010 - 47, in May 2010 - 39.
