On February 4, 2011, it became known about the beginning of a series of classes on the study of Jewish tradition in the Moscow pre-trial detention centers "Matrosskaya Tishina" and "Butyrka".
The classes will be held within the framework of an agreement concluded in 2007 between the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Fed.
The lessons will be taught by the head of the department of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia for interaction with the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and law enforcement agencies, Rabbi Aaron Gurevich and employees of the country's Chief Rabbinate.
Let us recall that in 2009, Russia’s first synagogue for prisoners was opened in a colony in the Arkhangelsk region. Sources
