The case of inciting hatred towards the police in Mari El

February 10, 2011 SO of the RF IC in the Republic of Mari El announced the initiation of a criminal case against a resident of the village of Medvedkovo under Part 2 of Art. 1 st. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of hatred).

According to investigators, the suspect created in one of social networking group called "Beat the cops!!! Save Russia!!!" In addition to calls for violence, there were also videos of beatings of policemen.

Calls for violence are, of course, a criminal thing, but the use of anti-extremist legislation is inappropriate here, since law enforcement officers should not be considered a vulnerable social group.
