The clergy of the Rostov region appealed to the Institute of Religion and Law with a request to protect them from... Ministry of Justice

On February 16, 2011, it became known that the Institute of Religion and Law had applied clergyman, from whom the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Justice for Rostov region was required to provide information about the place, time, purpose and the main content of prayer services, the prayer retreat of the Council Churches, interchurch prayers, thereby violating the current laws of the Russian Federation.

Commenting this situation, Deputy Director of the Institute of Religion and Law Inna Zagrebina highlighted a number of points of the current legislation of the Russian Federation (the Constitution, the law "On freedom of conscience and religious associations”), as well as the “Universal Declaration on Human Rights” and “European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental freedoms”, which, in her opinion, the leaders of religious organizations should know, to “not only know and observe the law, but also be able to defend the rights of believers and religious organizations.
