The Uglich Museum transferred the Transfiguration Cathedral to the Russian Orthodox Church, thereby losing space for exhibiting the collection of ancient Russian paintings

February 25, 2011 Interfax-religion agency reported that at the end of December 2010 the State historical, architectural and art museum of Uglich handed over to the Russian Orthodox Church Transfiguration Cathedral (XVIII century).

Previously, icons from the funds of the department were exhibited in the cathedral building. ancient Russian art.

Currently, most of the collection is removed in storerooms, since the museum does not have an exhibition complex to replace the building given to the ROC provided.
