At the end of February it became known that the Cleric of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Armavir, Father Pavel republished Pushkin's "The Tale of the Priest and the Worker his Balda". At the same time, he replaced the priest in her with a merchant.
According to the priest, the tale was first published after Pushkin's death by Vasily Zhukovsky, who considered it incorrect to ridicule priest, so I changed the character to a merchant. This is how the book was known until 1917. The tales returned to the original version after revolution.
"The Tale of the Merchant" was published in 4 thousand copies. Distribute it is supposed to be in Sunday schools and church shops.
Recall that in Syktyvkar in 2006 the diocese tried to ban the production of Shostakovich's opera based on this fairy tale, as a result, the state theater was forced to change the ending.
