The head of the Council of Muftis asks the Prosecutor General to prevent the inclusion of Muslim books in the list of extremist materials

March 5, 2011 Head of the Council of Muftis of Russia Ravil Gainutdin appealed to the Prosecutor General of Russia Yuri Chaika with a request not to allow Muslim books to be recognized as extremist, including the book of mufti. He expressed the hope that the statement of the Gay inter-district prosecutor Orenburg region will be withdrawn.

The appeal notes that cases of inclusion in list of extremist materials and Muslim religious literature in have recently become more frequent: “To our common regret, in a number of cases this occurs as a result of incorrect translations of publications into Russian. However, quite often the reason is not always objective, justified, comprehensive and complete expert opinions”. Sources
