On March 17, 2011, it became known that the parishioners of Pyatigorsk mosques and leadership of the Pyatigorsk State Linguistic University (PSLU) sent an open letter to the editorial office of the newspaper "Moscow's comsomolets". This newspaper in early February published article "The Supreme Educational Institutions", the authors of which accused students of Pyatigorsk universities, in particular PSLU, in that from among their students radical Islamists recruit suicide bombers.
Imam of the Pyatigorsk mosque Magomedsaid Magomedov considers this article as a provocation. "We are very outraged: what is written there is absolutely does not correspond to the realities of our mosque. We do not encourage anyone to go into the forest, on the contrary, we urge you to go to the mosque," he said.
After the publication in the MK, the regional prosecutor's office conducted due diligence of the university. The facts stated in the article were not confirmed.
University management advises journalists to check the facts before publishing and not spread "horror stories" about Muslims. Sources
