Representative of the Ministry of Defense: by the end of 2011, about 200 priests will be sent to the troops

On April 4, 2011, Vladimir Borovsky, a consultant at the Russian Ministry of Defense for working with religious military personnel, reported that within a year, about 200 clergy of “traditional” religious organizations would be sent to the troops. They will work in those units where the number of believers is more than 10% of the personnel.

The head of the synodal Department for interaction with the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, Archpriest Dimitry Smirnov, clarified that by the end of the year it is planned to create 240 full-time positions for chaplains.
