ROT FRONT party denied registration

One of the reasons for the refusal received by representatives of the ROT FRONT on April 8, 2011 was The party's emblem is a clenched fist inside a star, which officials say can be interpreted as an extremist symbol.

The refusal of the Ministry of Justice states that “in accordance with the conclusion of the Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation, the emblem parties in the form of a clenched fist inside a star, symbolizes the military component Soviet statehood and, at the same time, the struggle against the existing state system, which can interpreted as a symbol of extremism.

We consider such claims Ministry of Justice unfounded. The clenched fist is not prohibited extremist symbols and may symbolize the struggle against the existing state system, or maybe not symbolize the struggle against it specific object. In addition, the waiver does not say anything about the violence of this hypothetical struggle. Meanwhile, not any, namely violent the fight against the state system can be regarded from the point of view of existing legislation as a manifestation of extremism. Note also that we are not aware of the participation of representatives of the ROT FRONT party in any violent actions.

Recall that ROT FRONT is a left-wing political party formed in February 2010 and still has not received official status.
