26 April 2011 it became known that the youth human rights group Karelia, outraged by the regular demonstration of the pectoral cross by the announcer TV channel "Karelia", appealed to the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications RF for clarification.
IN interview to Portal-Credo.ru Maxim Yefimov, head of the organization, recalled that employees of state channels should ensure "religious and ideological neutrality".
"We ask you to evaluate similar dress code of Karelian announcers, he said, since the demonstration of religious preferences violates the principle of a secular state, in addition, these actions may be offensive to members of other faiths and non-believers.”
