The Toropets Icon of the Mother of God will be returned not to the Russian Museum, but to the Toropets Cathedral

April 25, 2011 Andrey Busygin, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, told the press that the Toropetsk Icon from the collection of the Russian Museum, which is on temporary display, will return not to the museum fund, but to the Toropetsky Cathedral.

A. Busygin told reporters that the Ministry of Culture received a letter “ with a request not to extend exposure time [Toropetskaya icons] in Prince's Lake . According to him, the icon will be returned “ for examination and, if necessary, for restoration”, after which it “will take its historical place in Toropets .

April 26, 2011 Representative administration of the Tver region told RIA Novosti that for the repair work of the Toropetsky Cathedral of the Korsun Mother of God, where, according to A. Busygin, return icon, 40 million rubles were allocated.
