was sentenced in Makhachkala On May 18, 2011, Ziyavdin Dapaev , a follower of the Turkish theologian Said Nursi. He was found guilty under part 1 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of the activities of an extremist organization) and sentenced to 3 years suspended prison with 2 years probation.
Recall that Dapaev denies his involvement in the banned extremism of the Nurcular organization, claiming that such an organization does not exist in Russia.
In our opinion, both the Nurcular ban and the recognition of Nursi's works as extremist is unlawful.
On November 15, 2011, the Supreme Court of Dagestan finally approved the sentence for Z. Dapaev.
