Nazi skinhead convicted in Moscow

On May 20, 2011, the Solntsevsky District Court of Moscow found E. Popelkovsky guilty of murder (Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), robbery (Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and inciting hatred or enmity (Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sentenced him in the form of imprisonment for a term of 4 years 6 months with a fine of 20,000 rubles to be served in an educational colony.

The verdict came into force.

Popelkovsky was accused of attacking people of “non-Slavic appearance” in the Moscow region and posting videos of these attacks on the Internet on his page (with the login “Deuchland88@yandex.ru”) on the VKontakte network.

The video files “Russia_88”, “Russia 88 is our first video” and “Russia 88” posted by Popelkovsky were declared extremist on July 15, 2011 by the decision of the Solntsevsky District Court of Moscow in a civil case filed by the Solntsevsky Interdistrict Prosecutor of Moscow. It was also decided to confiscate these video materials.

The decision of the court entered into force.

Two videos were made by a resident of Orenburg, who was also accused under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, but the case against him was dismissed due to the statute of limitations in March 2012.
