In May 2011 from racist and neo-Nazi motivated attacks at least 9 people were injured, one of them died (a citizen of Armenia in Moscow region). Incidents were recorded in Moscow (3 victims) and Moscow region (1 killed, 2 injured), St. Petersburg (1 victim), Saratov region (1 victim).
In total, in the first five months of 2011, 11 people died in 14 regions of Russia. people and at least 55 people were injured, 5 received death threats.
Attention is drawn to the attack in Chelyabinsk by Nazi skinheads, shouting pro-Hitler slogans, at a passer-by who made them comment. Knives were used in the attack.
In May 2011, right-wing radicals, in their own way, joined prominent public shares. Russian nationalists traditionally participated in the celebration of May 1 in Moscow and other cities. In May 2011, at least 6 convictions were handed down in cases of racist violence, in which the motive of hatred was taken into account: in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Republic of Karelia, Voronezh and Samara regions. In total, these processes 28 people were convicted (including 1 person sentenced to life imprisonment freedom, 16 were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment, 10 people received suspended sentences, 1 person due to the expiration of the statute of limitations brought to criminal liability from serving a sentence released). The loudest was the verdict in the case of the murder of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova. Nikita Tikhonov was sentenced to life imprisonment, and Yevgenia Khasis to 18 years in prison. Also notable was the verdict decision of the St. Petersburg City Court in the case of a neo-Nazi group "Lincoln-88", accused of committing 12 racist attacks, including 2 murders: 18 people were convicted, 10 of them to real terms of deprivation freedom.
On May 19, 2011, the jury returned a verdict on one of the longest cases - the Borovikov-Voevodin gang. Almost all the accused were found guilty.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been at least 23 convictions for racist violence, in which the motive of hatred is taken into account, against 91 people (36 out of they were sentenced on probation).
For xenophobic propaganda in May 2011, 5 sentences were handed down - in Kurgan, Kursk, Moscow and Tver regions and in the Khabarovsk Territory. In them 5 people were convicted.
In total for the first five months of 2011 in cases of xenophobic propaganda 24 sentences were handed down in 19 regions of the country, on which 28 Human.
In May 2011, one sentence was handed down for xenophobic vandalism - in the city Taldom, Moscow region. 19-year-old night school student for writing in buildings of the city with racist slogans and swastikas was sentenced to 1 year in prison conditional freedom. In total, since the beginning of the year, 4 such sentences have been handed down, in which 8 people were convicted.
In early May 2011, from the Federal List of Extremist Materials list, a number of entries were removed while maintaining the general numbering. From the list was part of the entries duplicating the previous ones has been excluded (pp. 667, 677-679, 682). TO Unfortunately, not all such records were seized. In addition, there were excluded 29 books by Ron Hubbard (paras. 632-660). Earlier withdrawal of materials from The federal list was almost never practiced.

May in Federal the list of extremist organizations was added by the Interregional Public movement "Army of the will of the people", recognized as an extremist decision Moscow City Court of November 19, 2010 (the decision entered into force on December 22, 2010 after approval the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation). Thus, in the list published on the official website of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, now there are 22 organizations (organizations recognized terrorist, are not yet included in this list).
On May 16, in the Vologda Oblast, a court recognized a public organization National Socialist Initiative (NSI) of the city of Cherepovets extremist organization and banned its activities. The organization appeared in Cherepovets at the beginning of 2010 as a regional office movement of the same name in St. Petersburg - NSI (Dm. Bobrov, convicted of 6 years in prison in 2005 for leading the Schultz-88 group).
