Complaint of discrimination as extremism

On February 15, 2011 the prosecutor's office of Taimyr Dolgano-Nenets municipal district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory warning about the inadmissibility of extremist activities of the Krasnoyarsk regional public organization "Protection of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples of the North". This became known 1 June 2011 from a report that the warning had been lifted Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory as illegal.

The reason for issuing the warning was the website of the Information Center of Finno-Ugric Peoples FINUGOR.RU appeal indigenous people of Taimyr to the senator from the Krasnoyarsk Territory Vyacheslav Novikov on on discrimination based on nationality against representatives indigenous peoples of the North when hiring in the region.

Interestingly, the prosecutor's office saw extremism in the following: first, the assertion that indigenous peoples are subject to discrimination, according to the prosecutor's office, is tantamount to asserting their inferiority, and secondly, it treatment creates a "negative attitude towards public authorities Krasnoyarsk Territory and local authorities".

Chairman of the board of the human rights organization Valery Salinder appealed to the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation and the Commissioner for Human Rights person in the Russian Federation Vladimir Lukin with a request to recognize the warning as illegal.

Fortunately, the regional prosecutor's office made the right decision. and the warning was cancelled.
