Kaluga: fine for Hitler's book "Mein Kampf"

In June 2011 in Kaluga, the world court considered the case under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (dissemination of extremist materials), initiated against a 43-year-old local resident.

The man was accused of keeping the book of Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" on his computer in shared folders.

Recall, according to part 3 of Art. 1 of the law "On countering extremist activity", the works of the leaders of the National Socialist the Workers' Party of Germany and the Fascist Party of Italy are extremist materials and, therefore, are prohibited for publication and mass distribution.

The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to a fine of in the amount of 1000 rubles.

The verdict has not yet entered into force.

We cannot assess the legitimacy of this verdict, since we do not have information about whether the banned book was distributed to a wide audience, or whether it was more about keeping it for personal use or in a narrow circle.
