Attack on cafe employees in Moscow

On the night of August 19, 2011, in Moscow on Beskudnikovsky Boulevard, unknown persons shot 30-year-old administrator of the Boulevard cafe-bar Karen Harutyunyan and 23-year-old waitress Yulia Pererva with a traumatic weapon.

Three young men in sweatshirts with hoods pulled down over their eyes approached the cafe employees, who were resting after their shift. One of them approached the administrator and asked for a cigarette. After that, all three approached the cafe employees, two of the young men took out traumatic pistols and began to shoot silently. Harutyunyan was shot at point-blank range three times in the head, right arm and chest. Then they hit him in the head with the butt of a pistol. The girl was shot in the head, stomach and thigh. After the shooting, the attackers fled in different directions. The cafe employees were not robbed, although the man had gold items and an expensive mobile phone.

The victims were hospitalized at the Institute. Sklifosovsky, the man underwent several urgent operations.

Harutyunyan's relatives believe that the attack was motivated by hatred; the man " could have been shot because he is non-Russian and dating a Russian girl ." In the morning, Pererva discovered a threatening message on her page on the social network VKontakte, which said that she had suffered for her friendship with a “Caucasian.”

The criminal case was initiated by the Department for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Directorate for the Northern Administrative District of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Main Investigative Directorate for Moscow. The case was initiated under Art. 30 paragraphs “a”, “g”, part 2 art. 105 of the Criminal Code (attempted murder of two or more people by a group by prior conspiracy). The attackers are being sought.
