The Ministry of Internal Affairs has developed a program to combat the Jehovah's Witnesses community

On September 22, 2011, it became known that the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Moscow area within the framework of the program of countering extremism was developed and organized "target operational and preventive operation under conditional under the name "Renegades".

The action plan included the following items:

• prepare a list of branches of the religious organization "Jehovah's Witnesses", located on the territory of the Moscow region and subject to verification, ensure the reliability and objectivity of information about managers and location of objects

• provide information about group leaders who are preachers "Jehovah's Witnesses"

• together with Rosfinmonitoring to check whether the heads of local religious groups of cash accounts and track the passage of financial flows through him,

• take measures to identify the owners of the premises in which meetings and lectures of local religious groups of Jehovah's Witnesses are held,

- check registration, constituent documents, contracts lease and documents confirming the legality of the location of local religious groups of Jehovah's Witnesses,

• conduct inspections of meetings of local religious groups of Jehovah's Witnesses, establish participants, in case of violation of the current legislation, to resolve the issue of bringing to responsibility. Persons of operational interest to the base "Extremist" TsOOSDPE,

• identify persons involving minors in the activities of the sect.

Activities within the framework of this operation were carried out in the Moscow region on 16 and 18 March 2011 and resulted in the disruption of worship services of Jehovah's Witnesses in Dubna and Istra.

October 18, 2011 Head of Department information and public relations of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Moscow Region Evgeny Gildeev informed the website "Agentura" about conducting an internal check on the fact discovery on the Internet of a document on the conduct of the operation "Renegades". "In the course of an internal audit, it was established that the employees of the Center for The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Moscow Region has not violated the requirements of the current legislation of the Russian Federation, regulatory legal acts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia", - E. Gildeev's letter says.
