A neo-Nazi died in Zaporozhye

On October 4, 2011, at about 20:00 in Ukraine in Zaporozhye, at the stadium of one of the sports schools, a former member of the neo-Nazi group "United Brigades - 88" (OB-88), 28-year-old Alexey Korshunov ("Korshun"), suspected of murdering anti-fascist Ivan, died Khutorskoy and in the murder of Moscow City Court judge Edurd Chuvashov, as well as complicity in the murders of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova.

According to official data from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Zaporozhye region, he was blown up by a grenade while playing sports - jogging around the school stadium. According to witnesses, the runner had a purse on his shoulder, which began to fall off while running, and he adjusted it. A few seconds later there was an explosion. Experts determined that there was a live grenade inside, which accidentally went off. The man died on the spot from his injuries. His right side was torn. The deceased was found to have a passport of a resident of the Nikolaev region, Svyatoslav Igorevich Lyagaev, born in 1984. The current owner of the document reported its loss several years ago. According to the witness, the deceased had tattoos on his body, including fascist symbols.

The young man lived in a rented apartment in the center of Zaporozhye, near Festivalnaya Square, where he moved in on August 10. On October 5, 2011, during a search of the apartment, the police found three TT pistols, a large number of cartridges and a Russian passport under the name of Alexey Korshunov.

Using fingerprints and Nazi tattoos, it was possible to find out that the deceased was A. Korshunov, who was on the international wanted list for murders committed in Moscow. According to Russian law enforcement agencies, his longtime “associate” Mikhail (“Monya”), who once hid Nikita Tikhonov, who was hiding after the murder of Markelov and Baburova, lives in Ukraine. Let us note that in Zaporozhye, a pharmacy was blown up on September 18 with the same grenade as the one on which the nationalist was blown up.

The Zaporozhye police have so far refrained from making official comments.
