On October 11, 2011, the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg granted the petition of Voina group activist Leonid Nikolaev and stopped his criminal prosecution .
The website in support of “War” states that the decision to terminate the criminal case was made on September 1, but Nikolaev received the notification only on October 11.
The Investigative Committee took into account that an independent examination did not recognize police officers as a social group, and therefore the activist’s actions “do not see any signs of a crime.”
The investigation also decided to add to the case materials the results of an independent examination and Nikolaev’s complaint to the European Court of Human Rights. Sources
