The eighth “March against Hate” took place in St. Petersburg

On October 31, 2010, the “March Against Hate. A column of demonstrators with Russian flags passed from the sports palace "Yubileiny" on the Petrograd side to Andrei Sakharov Square on Vasilyevsky Island. A rally took place on the square in memory of all the victims of hatred.

This year the event was organized by regional branch of "United Russia", however, during the procession, no signs of the party Participants had no affiliation. This year, human rights activists decided not to foresee the event, so as not to "politicize" the event. As one of the organizers of the action, United Russia party Artem Murzakov, "party of power" captured the action of human rights activists in connection with what they see the threat of nationalism from all sides, both from the Russian and from the Caucasian."

This was already the eighth March against Hate, which took place in St. Petersburg. The first was organized in 2004, after the murder of Nikolai Girenko.
