On November 17, 2011, it became known that the election commission of the Astrakhan region saw signs of extremism in the propaganda video of the candidate for State Duma deputy on the list of the A Just Russia party, currently the deputy head of the A Just Russia faction in the Duma, Oleg Shein. The Electoral Commission “recommended” leading regional TV channels not to broadcast the material – and the video was immediately removed from broadcasting. According to the Chairman of the Electoral Commission of the Astrakhan Region, Igor Korovin, “the plot incites social hostility and artificially causes dissatisfaction among people with the current government.”
The authors of the short (15-second) video criticize the construction of the new Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater and claim that this money could have been used to build kindergartens, residential buildings and pave roads. The video ends with the call: “Let’s direct the budget to the needs of the people!”
On November 22, 2011, O. Shein said that another A Just Russia election video was removed from the air, featuring critics of the law on paid fishing.
