The sentence of Evgeniya Khasis came into force

November 22, 2011 Supervisory Board for Criminal Cases The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation considered the complaint of Evgenia Khasis against the verdict of the Moscow City Court dated May 6 this of the year.

Recall that E. Khasis was found guilty by the jury of the murder of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and a journalist Anastasia Baburova (paragraphs “g”, “l”, part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and illegal arms trafficking (parts 2 and 3 of article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sentenced by the court to 18 years in prison.

The supervisory appeal was dismissed by the Supreme Court without satisfaction. Thus, the court recognized as lawful the verdict of the Moscow City Court and the decision on the cassation complaint, which the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation previously left unsatisfied.

The second defendant in the case of the murder of a lawyer and a journalist - Nikita Tikhonov has not yet filed a supervisory appeal.
